"Abkhaz State Television and Radio off the air

Reports from the breakaway Georgian Republic of Abkhazia say the state television and radio broadcasting system is off the air. In the early hours of this morning the Abkhazia Supreme Court decided to cancel its decision on the election of Sergei Bagapsh as president of Abkhazia. The Court has declared the election results across the entire territory of the Republic invalid, and ordered the Central Elections Commission to schedule repeat elections under Article 20 of the law On Elections of the President of the Republic of Abkhazia. 

The Abkhaz State Television and Radio Company (AGTRK) went off the air at around 7:30 a.m. for security reasons. A source at the station said that "strangers began appearing in the grounds of AGTRK." Security has been tightened around the AGTRK building as the Abkhaz Security Council holds an emergency meeting in Sukhumi to discuss the current situation in the Republic. Russian TV channels are also off the air in Abkhazia at the moment.
