LIBERIA  On Tuesday 12th July 2005, STAR radio Liberia begins short wave
broadcasts over Liberia & the Sub region, which are aimed to reach the
entire population of Liberia and the neighboring countries. The short wave
will initially be for three hours, daily, with morning broadcasts at
0700-0900 UT (on 9525 kHz) and evening broadcasts at 2100-2200 UT (on 11965
kHz).

STAR radio was reopened on 25th May 2005 after having been forcibly closed
down by the then President Charles Taylor in March 2000. It currently
broadcasts for 17 hours a day bringing News, Current Affairs and a variety
of Feature programs to the people of Monrovia and its environs. STAR radio
is a Liberian not for profit organization, operated in partnership with the
Hirondelle Foundation - Media for Peace & Human Dignity, Switzerland.

"From now on people in distant parts of Liberia and elsewhere in the region,
until now deprived of accurate and credible information, will be able to
hear about the latest political sporting and other socio- economic and
cultural developments. They will also be able to send messages and greet
each other over the airwaves" said Robin White, the Hirondelle Foundation's
Project Director in Monrovia.

Liberia has come out of 15 years years of civil war. STAR radio will be a
major player in helping with the peace process and reconstruction of the

Gestern Donnerstag war Star Radio aus Monrovia ab 21.00 Uhr mit S=5 super
zu hören. Es wurde 11'965 khz eingesetzt. Gestartet wurde mit Nachrichten.

Frage: Gilt als Adresse immer noch die Hirondelle Organisation in Lausanne?
Der letzte Eintrag in der 'Schöchi-Liste' ist von 2000 (Martin E. aus W.).
Da wurde diese Adresse vermerkt, aber so problemlos haben die Schweizer
damals
eine QSL-Karte nicht herausgerückt.
