To mark the 70th birthday of our DX club this coming weekend we 
anticipate a number of programmes and stations going on air specifically 
for us.
A few will be extremely difficult to hear, if at all, but every DXer 
likes a challenge!

*WRMI Radio Miami International *from Okeechobee Florida USA will 
broadcast League member David Miller's 'Southern Rock Connection' at 
*0700-0800 UTC on Sunday 8 April*.
This will be the easiest one to hear, thanks to the high power 
transmitters being used.
Frequencies will be *7730 and 5850kHz* and the broadcast will feature 
the 70th Anniversary of the NZ Radio DX League and include NZ rock music 
tracks.
Numbered QSLs will be issued for reception reports on the broadcast, so 
please listen in, and let David know how you heard the programme by 
writing to
Southern Rock Connection, PO Box 1212, Dunedin 9054, New Zealand. For 
QSL response please include US$2 to help pay for return postage.

*Marconi Radio International* from Europe have scheduled two 3-hour long 
transmissions to celebrate the League's 70th Anniversary:
*Saturday 7 April from 1630 to 1930 UTC on 7720 kHz USB mode* with 100 watts
*Monday 9 April from 1630 to 1930 UTC on 6970 kHz USB mode *with 1000 watts

Several North American Hobby Broadcasters have advised us they will 
transmit broadcasts to coinicide with the DX Convention, and at a time 
that would provide possible reception in New Zealand. These include
Already indicating their intentions to operate are *Channel Z *(which 
has been heard regularly in NZ in past years) and *Radio Illuminati*.
Look for them in *USB mode *on frequencies between *6900 and 7000 kHz* 
between *0500 and 0700 UTC on Saturday 7 April *or *Sunday 8 April*.

Norwegian station *Radio Northern Star* will activate a 1kw Rockwell 
Collins 1kW transmitter on *5895 kHz operating USB mode* on *Saturday 7 
April at 1800-1900 UTC* specially for our 2018 Convention.
This is a very difficult catch, but if you are fortunate enough to hear 
them, reports go to 1000 (a) northernstar (dot) no

Coincidentally, announcing it will be on air next weekend is French 
hobby operator *Atlantic 2000**International*. This station will be on 
the air on *6070kHz *at *0800 UTC *on*Saturday 7 April *(possibly too 
late for NZ reception) and*1900 UTC *on*Sunday 8 April* which should

If you hear any of these, make sure you report your loggings to the NZ 
DX Times!   And even if you don't hear a special broadcast marking our 
70yth anniversary, a thank you message to the station will help maintain 
relationships between broadcasters and hobbyists.
