Ein paar Jahre später wurde es auf den Plattformen VIC-20 und C64 als das sogenannte Connectionless Emergency Traffic System (CETS) für digitale Paketkommunikation zur Unterstützung eines Langstreckenrennens ausgeführt. Das Programm wurde 1988 auf die IBM PC-Plattform portiert und 1992 in APRS umbenannt.
