South Dakota. The original analog tower built in 1976 is 477 meters 
(1,565 ft)[1] while the newer digital tower built in 1998 is 609.2 
meters (1,999 ft).[2] They are owned by Gray Media Group, Inc.[2] The 
digital tower is one of the tallest structures in the world."

SALEM, S.D. (Dakota News Now) - A "Dakota News Now" broadcasting tower 
was among the many structures damaged in Thursday’s powerful storm that 
swept across eastern South Dakota.
The tower, located near Salem, was 1,480′ tall. It was built in 1976.
The downed tower will not impact signal strength on any of Dakota News 
Now’s networks. There are several towers nearby capable of broadcasting 
in the area.

Der analoge Turm ist nicht mehr aktiv, KDLT verwendet jetzt den 
digitalen, aber die Leuchtfeuer an der Spitze beider Türme müssen 
ersetzt werden, wenn sie als Warnung für Flugzeuge ausfallen. Der 
Austausch der Leuchtfeuerbirne an der Spitze des Digitalturms wurde 2010 
in einer Episode von World's Toughest Fixes während Staffel 1 vorgestellt.
Im Jahr 2015 wurde Amateur-Drohnenvideomaterial von einem Mann, der die 
Glühbirne am analogen Turm auswechselt, viral, zog mehr als 17 Millionen 
Aufrufe auf YouTube an und erregte die Aufmerksamkeit von CNN und einer 
Zeitung in Großbritannien.[6][7][8] Als die Federal Aviation 
Administration (FAA) von den Drohnenaufnahmen erfuhr, ordnete sie keine 
Flüge mehr an, da Drohnen per Gesetz auf eine Höhe von 400 Fuß (120 m) 
beschränkt sind, wobei der Turm etwa fünfmal so hoch ist.[9]
