PA5M, Michael, expects to be deployed to Port au Prince, Haiti, probably on
Wednesday this week. He won't be taking a radio as he will be very busy
with his work. Michael works for the United Nations World Food Program.
It's possible he will be able to use HH2/HB9AMO's, Pierre's, station or will
have a rig sent over at a later time.

S57CQ, Dane, another UNWFP employee, arrived in Port au Prince on Friday
night for an approximate two-month assignment. He is hoping to get a
"proper license/permit to operate," but is obviously there on a serious work
assignment. If Dane is able to get on the air he will also use HH2/HB9AMO's
TS50 and wire antennas.

XE1KK, Ramon Santoyo V., Secretary of IARU Region 2, says, "The IARU-
R2 Twitter account is being used at the present exclusively for the Haiti
situation. It's the place we are communicating the information we are
receiving from our member societies in the continent and the regional and
area emergency coordinators." That site is:
http://twitter.com/iaru_r2.

F5NQL reports that, "Phil/F4EGS is going to join the International Forces
and NGOs [Non-government organization] which are working to help the
survivors in Haiti after the earthquake. He will stay in the Port au Prince
Airport area. In his luggage he brings his FT100 and a dipole and maybe
will on the air as HH/F4EGS, in his very, very limited time, if he has any.
If he can have ham traffic time. QSL via his home call, direct or bureau."

HK3L (former call HK3QSN), Luis Alberto Lugo, left for Haiti on Thursday
with a team of first responders from the Colombian government. We don't
know the length of their stay.

HI8RCD/HH's (Hugo Ramon) operation was aborted due to the chaos and serious
security problems. But, this group did succeed in installing a repeater on
Dominican soil that covers Port Au Prince and Santo Domingo. It is being
used by both the Red Cross and civil defense authorities.

HH2QCS, David Farquharson, has been found and is on the air using solar
power. Fuel available for generators is a problem.
