There is a “cracked” release of Studio 1 available by some underground P2P channels since some time.
Being curios, I tried that version using (of course) all the precautions of the case; WARNING: don’t try yourself at home (see below for a detailed explanation).

The hacker renamed it “Studio 1 open version”, probably because calling it “badly cracked and dangerous” wouldn’t have been as much as “nice”.
While it is relatively simple for a skilled hacker to skip the early stages of the protection scheme, once you get to the core there is no way: things start to be too much complicated as they involve many aspects of the DSP itself.

So, the program starts, windows are showed correctly giving a false impression of a working program but the fun starts when you try to tune on a signal: the DSP is totally screwed up (of course) so you get very funny noises, ogre like or cartoon like voices etc.

Now the SERIOUS part: the real purpose of the hack is to propagate MALWARE, taking advantage of the popularity of the program. Specifically, after a certain run time the program starts its dirty tricks so it is actually a time bomb.

The malware in question is that kind of ransomware that try to encode your files with a cryptographic algorithm so stay away from it!
